She also maintained close ties to her Scottish roots by regularly returning there to visit her birthplace and reconnect with her heritage, while giving to various charities including Happy Trails Foundation which had been established by her parents.

Mimi worked as a chimpanzee caregiver at the Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center in Cameroon, a medium-sized country on Africa’s west coast. She developed an affection for these primates that she frequently displays while caring for them in Animals with Cameras.

Mimi experienced many ups and downs throughout her life, yet never gave up on her dreams. She continued working in the entertainment industry for several years starring in films and TV shows as an actress or singer while dedicating much of her free time to charity work and defending women’s rights issues. Mimi died at 80 on January 25, 2021.
