Make a Race Car Cake For Your Little Ones’ Birthday

Create this race car cake for your child’s birthday celebration – it’s simple to assemble, and they will love it!

Start by covering all four sides of your cake with white fondant, cutting four individual pieces for each side. Next, add Hershey’s chocolate strips.

Easy to make

Race car cakes are easy and fun to create! Most are typically red, black, and white with gum paste-modeled race cars featuring checkered textures on tires or flags – or you could add blue, green, or orange color schemes depending on your child’s theme and age.

If you are carving a cake into the shape of a car, drawing a template beforehand can help ensure its form stays true during carving. Utilize it to cut roof lines and other details of its body while avoiding areas that need deeper carving.

Once your body is complete, frost it and crumb coat before placing it in the fridge to chill until its frosting sets up ultimately.

Cover the cake with a thin layer of red fondant as the foundation for your track. In a medium bowl, mix the remaining buttercream icing with several drops of green food coloring before spooning this mixture into a decorating bag fitted with either a large star tip (#233) or grass tip to pipe around its perimeter and on top in order to simulate an oval track effect.

Once the icing has set, use any remaining red fondant to form a smooth surface for your racetrack. Add a couple of layers for added strength if necessary; smooth it using either your hands or a fondant smoother for optimal results.

Add the racetrack to the side of your car by using pieces of red fondant as racetrack sections, curving the front windshield, and making angles in its rear slope. Finish by attaching red Smartie pieces as wheels.

Add decorations to the sides of the car, such as foil-wrapped chocolate candy cars or plastic model cars that will be removed when serving the cake – guests will love taking home this surprise treat, while kids will especially love it!

Easy to decorate

Creating a race car cake for anyone who enjoys racing can be done quickly if you have all of the ingredients at hand – cake, frosting, edible decorations, and some simple tools are enough! This project would make an excellent gift idea or activity during any child’s birthday party or family gathering!

To create a basic race car cake, divide your cake into two halves and sandwich their bottom halves together with small amounts of white frosting. Frost the tops of each half-circle using any remaining frosting; use a flexible smoother to spread an even coat across all surfaces of each half-circle before chilling it for 15 minutes to set its shape.

Next, use a ruler and pizza cutter to cut four pieces of white fondant for the sides of the cake, leaving some space between each edge. Use vodka-laced soft brushes to secure black squares to the fondant without overdoing it; over-gluing will result in black streaks down its sides!

Make a road out of royal icing by layering it atop frosting and adding clean plastic model cars as decorations for your cake. Each guest can take one home when cutting their slice! This is a fun way of embellishing any celebration cake!

An exciting alternative to traditional cakes is a chocolate-cookie-dough cake with chocolate layers and frosting, which is easy to create and can be decorated with frosting, candy-coated pieces, or numbers for the guest of honor.

Your other option is to create the look of a race track with a Hershey’s oval cookie filled with crushed Oreos for an impressive effect. Add candy-coated pieces that depict cars, traffic lights, and race flags before adding some decorations such as tire treads made out of candy-coated pieces for tires; plus, add flat licorice twists, gummy bears, or gumdrops as wheels and taillights!

Easy to store
